Cousin Megan's Visit

Cousin Megan came for a visit before Thanksgiving. Kai loved having her here. Every morning he would find her on the couch to wake her up.

Chubby Little Monkey

1 Year Update

Kai had a wonderful first birthday! Thanks to all the friends and family for the happy birthday wishes. Kai's Kodiak friends celebrated his birthday by bringing him found objects like rocks, shells, and leaves. Dad made pumpkin spice cupcakes and mom broke the mixer making the frosting. Dad also made Kai a set of wooden blocks.

Kai is 19 pounds 5 ounces and 28 1/2 inches at 1 year old. He loves books! He now brings us the books he wants to read and turns the pages. His 5th tooth is pushing through on the top right. We can make out about 6 words he uses regularly, "dough" - dog, "chi chi" - chicken, "sh sh" - shower, "ma" - mom, "da, da, da" - dad, and "ba" - ball.

Hike

11 Month Update

Kai weighs 18 pounds 8 ounces and is 27 inches. He is now self feeding and has taken 4 steps on his own. He went for a skiff ride to Geoff and Christy's cabin this month and still loves rocks. He is due for a car seat upgrade and we have been researching. We are looking at the Maxi Cosi Piori.

10 Month Catch Up

Kai returned to his Kodiak home at 10 months. Two teeth came in and he started crawling and cruising. He helped dad in the garden and went to the fair where he met a real cowboy for his first horse ride.

Kai on the Move

Cousin Kyla filmed Kia scooting to the golf balls. Not quite a crawl but getting closer. The golf balls, found by grandpa at Sunriver, are some of Kai's favorite toys.

Sunriver, Oregon

Kai and Waltenbaugh family enjoy Sunriver, playing with cousins, biking, swimming, canoeing, exploring lava fields and geocaching.

8 Month Update

Kai is 16 pounds and 26 inches at 8 months old.

Big sleep milestones this month! After moving back to Homer for the summer, mom and dad made a team effort to teach Kai to sleep in his own bed. We had some help from the Baby Wisper:

7 Month Update

Kia is 7 months old! He weighs in at 15 pounds 9 ounces and 25 1/4 inches. Kai took a few trips this month. He went to Portland to his dad's 20 year high school reunion. He visted with his grandparents and met Auntie Mimi and his little friend Greta. Kai spent Mothers day in Homer where he was in his frist race. Grandma pushed him in the stroller.

Milestones this month are sitting up real tall all by himself, scooting backwards on his belly and starting to reach for mom and dad to pick him up. New menu items are peaches, salmon and kiwi.

6 Month Update

At 6 months Kai weighs 14 pounds 15 ounces and is 26 inches. In addition to rice cereal he has tried pears, peas, apples, carrots and bananas. He likes everything! He scoots backwards now and can sit up, for a few seconds, on his own. He will make his first trip to Portland this weekend.
